Influence of wall roughness on cavitation performance of centrifugal pump

Abstract Cavitation is a phenomenon that occurs easily during rotation of fluid machinery and can decrease the performance pump, thereby resulting in damage to flow passage components. To study influence wall roughness on cavitation centrifugal three-dimensional model internal field pump was constructed numerical simulation conducted with ANSYS CFX software based Reynolds normalization group k -epsilon turbulence Zwart model. The be further divided into four stages: inception, development, critical cavitation, fracture cavitation. Influencing laws blade surface were analyzed. Research results demonstrate design process pumps, decreasing appropriately development important effectively improve pumps. Moreover, number nucleation sites increase roughness, expanding low-pressure area blade. conclusions provide theoretical references optimize structural pump.
